Postponement of Singapore Volleyball League 2020

Published Wed 25 Mar 2020

The Multi-Ministry Taskforce announced on 24 March 2020 the decision to enforce stricter measures that would limit gatherings outside of work and school to 10 persons or fewer, and ensure that physical distancing of at least one metre can be achieved in settings where interactions are non-transient. These measures will take effect from 26 March 2020, 2359 hours. These measures to be in place until 30 April 2020, but this may be extended if the situation does not improve.

In view of the above, the Singapore Volleyball League (SVL) Organising Committee, in consultation with the VAS Council, has decided to postpone SVL2020 which was scheduled to commence 4 April 2020. We understand that the fraternity is disappointed but we believe the postponement of SVL2020 is the socially responsible precautionary measure and is critical in slowing the transmission of the virus. The Singapore volleyball fraternity will play our part in the fight against COVID-19.

We are making plans to bring the SVL2020 to fruition in the later part of 2020 and will be monitoring the development closely. We understand these measures are disruptive and require significant effort from all of us to adjust to them. However, we must all do our part to protect ourselves, our family and friends, and the people around us.

Take care and stay safe!
