New Technical Official Sub Committee and Development Pathway

The new Technical Official Sub Committee has designed a new development pathway to aid existing referees Match Secretary's and interested Technical Officials-to-be, acquire the necessary knowledge and abilities to achieve dreams of becoming an international referee.

Technical Official can expect to be nurtured through a structured tiered system and receive game development updates during Technical Official forums organised throughout the year. The Committee recognises the importance of having an effective and committed team of referees to support the growth of the game. As such, Singapore Floorball Association is focused on channeling necessary resources into building a strong network of Referees, Match Secetary's and Officials.

 

Referee Requirements

  • To be ranked Top 5 most popular sport among youths in Singapore
  • To be a leading Floorball nation in Asia Oceania region

 

Tiered System

Fulfill the following criteria as follows:

   Level 1


a) To clock min. 24 hours refereeing duties in SFL Division 1 – 4
Level 1
b) Attend required number of referee forums
*To qualify for level 2: min of 48hrs + fitness test + rule test

   Level 2
   (subj. to nomination)


b) Pass Level 2 fitness test + rule test
c) Attend/Conduct referee forums/Level 1 referee course
*Eligible for International Referee nomination

   International Referee   


a) To fulfil all Level 2 referee requirements
b) Be available for selection for all sanctioned regional/international matches

Referees wishing to be considered for promotion or international nomination will be subjected to appraisal by fellow referees as well as the officiating committee panel.

 

Membership

  • Annual membership fees of $30.
  • Referees will receive a package containing a referee top, socks, log-sheet, whistle, cards, and contact sheet.
  • Referees will enjoy discounts to IFF development courses, SFA Coaching courses and benefits such as equipment privileges etc.

 

Technical Officials Forums

  • Held once or more annually
  • To share new developments and rule interpretations
  • To create bonding opportunities between referees

 

Courses
 

Course Description

This course is designed to impart refereeing skills and knowledge to referees-to-be. The emphasis of this course is to teach referees to interpret and apply the basic rules of Floorball appropriately during the course of a match.

Course Objectives

At the end of this course, referees will be able to:

  • Be knowledgeable about the basic rules of the game
  • Interpret the rules in the correct spirit of the game
  • Move correctly when refereeing the game
  • Communicate well with players and fellow referee
  • Manage the game positively
